This loose fitting, raglan-sleeved cardi has been designed to fit sizes 0–3 months, 3–6 months and 6–12 months. It is knitted in five pieces: back, left and right fronts, and two sleeves. The cardigan is knitted with a multi-coloured wool, enhanced by a contrasting border at the bottom edges. Three buttons are included in this kit to give a fastening in the upper section, at the front. These pick up the colour of the contrasting borders. Sufficient wool is provided for the largest size.
The sweater is knitted in machine washable British wool from West Yorkshire Spinners. To quote their strapline: ‘Reared, Sheared and Spun in Britain’. The yarn provided is 75% wool/25% nylon which includes 35% Bluefaced Leicester for a luxurious feel, with the twist of nylon for added strength. The ball band states that this yarn is machine washable at 30°C. Tumble drying is not recommended.
To knit this cardigan you will need a pair each of 2.75 mm and 3 mm straight needles. Five stitch holders and a couple of safety pins are required to hold the stitches at the top edge before joining the five pieces together and knitting the neckband.
