Hand-in-Hand Children's Sweater pattern
This sweater starts with four pieces being knitted: front, back and two sleeves. These are then combined into a yoke and knitted in the round thereafter. The design features a row of friends, hand-in-hand, all around the yoke. Instructions are given for two sizes: 5 to 6 years and 7 to 8 years. It is a relaxed fit garment, with a wide neck for added comfort. The design started as a knitting kit and, following many requests, I now offer it as a pattern too.
Yarn:
DK weight wool is used, with approx 250g in main shade for the smaller size, or 300g for the larger size. Approx 50g of a contrast yarn is also required. The photographed examples (red and green) are knitted in WYS ColourLab DK. The initial design was created for Sheepfold’s Manx Loaghtan DK wool, with a Manx/Corriedale blend as the contrast.
Needles:
One pair of both 3.25 mm and 4 mm straight needles for the body and sleeves. Either a set of double pointed needles or a circular needle in each of these two sizes for the yoke and neck.
Also needed:
One stitch marker
Six stitch holders
