Sheepfold is delighted to offer a range of wools from specific British sheep breeds. These are undyed; the colours shown are characteristic of the breeds themselves. The wool is not only ‘grown’ in the UK but processed here too.
We have included a range of natural colours and, as we extend our range, will increase the number of ‘vulnerable’ and ‘at risk’ breeds. Most of our wool is in Aran weight, but a small selection is also available in 4-ply, DK and chunky.
By selling wool from breeds such as North Ronaldsay and Soay we are able to support sheep farmers in maintaining specific gene pools. We are particularly proud to support breeders of the more primitive British breeds in this way.
If you are wanting wool from breeds other than those displayed, please contact us as we have small quantities of wool from many more sheep breeds. Additionally, if there is sufficient demand we can further extend our range of natural wools.
