About us

Sue and Alice met in the millennium and discovered a common passion for creative textiles, leading to the establishment of Sheepfold in 2005.  With a growing love of unusual handbags and the joy of making something both useable and fun, Sheepfold started by producing kits enabling others to make our felt bags.  Repeatedly being asked where we bought the bag in use on any particular day, we realised that others would also welcome the chance to create something a little different!

We have designed unique kits so you can make your own purses, bags, scarves and home textiles.  These are in a wide variety of sizes and colours to match every outfit and every pocket.  Do you like bright blue or green, or do you prefer natural wool tones?  Find something to suit your style but if you have any queries or suggestions please contact us.  Wherever possible, British wool has been used in our kits.

Some of our kits use wool from a single breed of sheep. About sheep includes information and photos of these breeds.  In particular, we are keen to support  breeders of  some of the rarer British sheep and, where possible, we are buying the wool used in our kits directly from them.  The seashore bag, using North Ronaldsay wool, is the first of these.  More have since been introduced and this range is always growing! Our products can be purchased over the internet using a secure payment system.  The listed costs include postage and packing to UK addresses.  Whenever possible, goods will be despatched within 28 days (often much sooner), but there will sometimes be a delay if a particular material is out of stock.  We will contact you if this is likely to be the case.

If you are unsure of any of the knitting techniques needed, or wish to reknit the pattern using other materials, we have given information on how to achieve this.
